Route 28X Enhancements Project - Public Outreach Plan

The Executive Office of Transportation is continuing to work on preparing its application to the US Department of Transportation for discretionary grant funding under the TIGER program (Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery), due on September 15, 2009. The TIGER grant would fund the implementation of the 28X project. Public outreach for the 28X project began in May 2009 and will continue throughout the project development process.

The following summarizes MassDOT's plan for outreach activities in July, August, and beyond (if the TIGER application is approved).

  • Establishment of a 28X Project Advisory Group in August to coordinate community input and serve as a project advisor to MassDOT going forward

  • Small group meetings with elected officials, local leaders and stakeholders, and representatives of the business, religious, and residential communities throughout the corridor

  • Public information tables in 2-3 locations in the corridor staffed by MassDOT during times when pedestrian activity is high (e.g. commuters at Dudley Station, shoppers at Grove Hall Mecca, students at Roxbury Community College, etc.)

  • Open Houses during the week of July 27th to provide answers to technical questions and seek additional public input.
